KINGS CROSSING PHASE 3
The planning process for Phase 3 of the Kings Crossing development continues to move forward, and the Development Committee of the SBCA is working hard to make sure that the interests of our neighborhood are a primary consideration throughout the process. The developers of the project attended the January 2016 meeting of the SBCA to share their vision for the development and to answer questions from the Community. Please click here to view a pdf of the presentation.
Please also take a moment to review the Letter to Supervisor Hyland, which outline some of the concerns our community would like to see addressed as the Phase 3 development progresses.

Fairchild Property Park
Fairfax County recently completed the purchase of 2.32 acres of land off of Quander Road, adjacent to the Fairchild property north of Fairview Drive. The combined properties, which are currently undergoing stream restoration, will eventually be turned over to the Fairfax County Park Authority. Thanks to the dedicated and tireless efforts of certain community members we are one giant step closer to ensuring that these 10-plus acres of forest and stream will be preserved as open space for all to enjoy!
Rain Gardens: Attractive and Functional Landscaping Features
Dr. Asad Rouhi of the Northern Virginia Soil and Water Conservation District (NVSWCD) attended the March 17th meeting of the SBCA and gave an informative presentation about the use of rain gardens as a tool that individual property owners can use to help manage the flooding and drainage issues that many Spring Bank property owners contend with. Click here to view a summary of Dr. Rouhi's presentation. For more information on the NVSWCD and the workshops and publications they offer please visit the Fairfax County Government site: (http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/nvswcd/)

Origin of the Mount Vernon Watersheds
The past President of Spring Bank Community Association, Martin Tillett, has written a series of informative articles about the history and current states of our local Mt. Vernon watersheds for the Mt. Vernon Gazette newspaper. These articles contain a great deal of information pertaining to Spring Bank and Quander Brook. Parts 5 and 6 are particularly relevant to our neighborhood.
